Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Nudge macOS application ("Nudge", "we", "us"), published by Big Decibel, handles your information. By using Nudge you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Nudge is a native macOS menu-bar application developed by Big Decibel. You can reach us at support@bigdecibel.com.
2. Information we access
When you choose to connect your Google account, Nudge requests a single, read-only permission scope:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly— read-only access to your Google Calendar events.
Using this access, Nudge reads upcoming event details — such as the title, start and end time, location, and any video-conference link — solely to display reminders. Nudge does not request write access and cannot create, edit, or delete any calendar events.
3. How we use it
Calendar information is used for one purpose only: to show you an on-screen reminder and play a chime shortly before each meeting, and to display your upcoming meetings in the menu-bar panel. All of this processing happens locally on your Mac.
4. How your data is stored and transmitted
- No backend. Nudge has no servers. Your Mac communicates directly with Google's APIs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- Local only. Calendar event data is held in memory to render reminders and is not written to any external system.
- Tokens in the Keychain. The OAuth access and refresh tokens that keep you signed in are stored securely in the macOS Keychain on your device.
- No analytics or tracking. Nudge contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
5. How we share it
We do not sell, rent, or share your Google user data with anyone. Data is not transferred to Big Decibel or any third party. The only network destination for your calendar data is Google itself, in order to fulfill your request to read your calendar.
6. Google API Services User Data Policy — Limited Use
Nudge's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, information obtained through the Google Calendar API is used only to provide and improve the in-app reminder features visible to you, is not transferred to others except as necessary to provide those features, is never used for advertising, and is never sold.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because Nudge stores nothing on a server, there is no remote copy of your data to delete. You are in control at all times:
- Choosing Sign out in Nudge immediately deletes the stored tokens from your Keychain.
- You can revoke Nudge's access entirely at any time from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Deleting the app removes its local data from your Mac.
8. Children
Nudge is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
